Stage 1 Paint Correction

A stage 1 paint correction removes the swirl marks, fine scratches and dullness that build up on every car over time, restoring the finish your paint was always capable of.

What Is a Stage 1 Paint Correction?

A stage 1 paint correction is a single-stage machine polish using a professional compound to remove surface defects from your car's clear coat. It's a precise, methodical process, not a quick once over. Typically achieving 50–70% defect removal, our stage 1 paint correction is the right choice for cars with moderate swirl marks, light scratches, water spot etching or general paint haze that's built up through regular use. If your car looks flat and tired in direct sunlight despite being clean, this is exactly what it needs.

What's Included?

Every Stage 1 paint correction with GlossLabs begins with a full decontamination wash, removing bonded surface contamination so the polish is working on clean, prepped paintwork rather than pushing dirt around. We then carry out the single-stage machine polish, working panel by panel to systematically reduce defects and restore gloss across the entire car.

The result is paintwork that reflects light cleanly, looks noticeably deeper, sharper, and finally matches the quality of the car underneath it.

Is a Stage 1 Paint Correction Right for Your Car?

A stage 1 paint correction works brilliantly for cars that are in reasonable condition but have lost their edge, swirled from car washes, hazed from UV exposure, or simply never properly polished since leaving the showroom.

If your paint has heavier defects, deep scratches, significant oxidation or you want the absolute highest possible finish, our Stage 2 paint correction goes further. We'll always assess your paintwork honestly before any work starts and tell you which stage will give you the result you're after.

What About Protection Afterwards?

Paint correction opens your paintwork up to its best condition. It makes sense to protect that finish once it's there.

Following a Stage 1 correction, many of our customers choose to add a ceramic coating, either our 1 year ceramic coating or 3 year ceramic coating option — to lock in the results and keep the paint protected long term. It's not something we'll push on you, but if you're asking our honest opinion, correction followed by coating is always the best combination.
