Why Your New Car Needs Protection Immediately

A new car leaves the factory with nothing protecting its paintwork except a layer of clear coat. That's it. No wax. No sealant. No ceramic coating. Just bare, exposed paint meeting the road the moment you drive away.

The dealer may have offered you a paint protection package at point of sale. In most cases, that's a basic sealant applied in minutes that lasts a matter of weeks, charged at a premium price for very little genuine protection. It's one of the most consistently poor-value add-ons in the motor trade.

What's Included?

Every new car protection service with GlossLabs begins with a full decontamination wash to remove any transport film, factory residue, dealer prep compound or fallout that's settled on the paint between the factory and your driveway. New cars are rarely as clean as they look, and anything left on the surface before protection is applied will be sealed in.

We then carry out a Stage 1 paint correction as standard. Even brand new cars can come from the factory or dealer prep with light haze, buffer marks or minor imperfections. A single-stage machine polish before the coating goes on ensures you're protecting a perfect surface, not just a new one.

For cars with more noticeable prep marks or imperfections straight from the dealer, we can carry out a Stage 2 correction instead. We'll assess the paint honestly and tell you what's needed before any work begins.

Finally, we apply a 1 year ceramic coating , which chemically bonds to your clear coat and protects your new paint from UV damage, road contamination, bird droppings, water spotting and the general punishment of daily driving in South Wales.

When Should You Book?

As soon as possible after collection — ideally within the first week. The sooner the paint is protected, the less exposure it has to the elements in its most vulnerable state.

We'd recommend waiting until after your first drive so any dealer-applied transport film or temporary protective coating has been removed, but beyond that — the sooner the better.

We'll always schedule your new car protection around suitable dry conditions and communicate clearly if anything needs adjusting. Please ensure the car is not washed for at least 10 days after the application to ensure best the level of bonding.

PLEASE NOTE, the car cannot get wet or be exposed to extreme temperatures for at least 24 hours after application to ensure the coating cures correctly.

It is your responsibility as the owner of the vehicle to ensure you have an appropriate space to store the car for 24hrs to keep it dry, or ensure the weather will be suitable after application of a ceramic coating.
